IFP Rubber PelletThis is a straight replacement for the stock IFP valve and requires a pressurised hypodermic needle to charge with gas. 1997-1999 Fox Vanilla Coil Shocks had a pellet cover pressed in which doesn't need removed.
Faux IFP Valve Stem Kit
This kit allows DIY service of Fox Vanilla shocks from 2000 to current by replacing the rubber pellet IFP valve with a compact schrader valve. It will not fit the very first years (1997-1999) of Vanilla Inline shocks. Kit includes a valve stem (choose black or green), valve stem parts (o-rings & valve core) and valve stem cap (choose black, deep blue or red).
Instructions
Fit o-ring onto stem and lightly grease with Slickoleum.
Max install torque 2 Nm (screw-driver tight) using a 5 mm hex key (allen key).
Install valve core.
Inflate IFP to desired pressure (usually 300-500psi) and install cap.
Note valve stem needs removed for air-can service.
Check frame clearance carefully before riding, you may need to reorientate some shocks.
IFP Pressures
Coil shocks - 200 psi
Lockout shocks - up to 500 psi
If IFP pressure is too low the shock will cavitate and knock on fast hits as well as ingest air via the main shaft seal.
If IFP pressure is too high you get extra preload force and extra seal friction.
